Midwest Leading in Nationwide Credit Score Rankings
Experian has recently released a study showing the top 10 cities with the highest credit scores across America, with 8 out of 10 found in the Midwest1.
Wasau, WI took the top spot with an average credit score of 789. The city of 39,000 was finally considered big enough to be included in Experian’s study.
Second place goes to Minneapolis, MN which was 2010’s leading city, with Madison, WI taking the third spot.
Cedar Rapids, IA, San Francisco, CA, Green Bay, WI, Boston, MA, Peoria, IL, Sioux Fall, SD and La Crosse, WI take their respective places in the top 10 list.
On the other hand, the cities with the lowest credit scores are spread across the southern states closest to the border with Mexico.
Harlingen, TX is the city with the lowest score. It is followed by Jackson, MS, Corpus Christi, TX, Monroe, LA, Shreveport, LA, Augusta, GA, Bakersfield, CA, Las Vegas NV, Tyler, TX and El Paso, TX.
America’s total average is at 749 with a grade of C, but has been moving upwards in a positive direction. That score is one point higher compared to 2010’s average, while five of the lowest-ranked cities seeing improvements compared to 2010.
